This year, we proudly present our 2020’s Christmas hosts! During December, they will light up your days with their latest trendspotting for 2021, a top-three Christmas-list, and their thoughts and tips for making great influencer marketing now and in the future.

You will get insights from:

In the third week of December, Sanna Ödmark shared her insights with us.

Sanna, what trends on social media and influencer marketing can you spot in 2021?

Even if we’ve had to keep a social distance this year, we’ve been more social than ever – at least on the social media platforms. To succeed in 2021, every marketer needs to find ways to leverage the fact that we’re spending more time there than any previous year. Not only do we seek inspiration and entertainment; with the introduction of Instagram shopping, we also make purchases right on the platform, often based on recommendations from influencers that we follow and trust. Now Instagram just announced that they’re launching an upgraded keyword search (i.e. not only search for hashtags and accounts), just like a social Google.

It will be very exciting to see what 2021 holds, but one thing is certain; it will be the most social year ever, at least in the digital sphere, and as a consumer brand, you don’t want to miss out.

There’s no doubt that there will be an unusual Christmas this year. What are your best tips to make the Holiday season as good as possible when it comes to spending time at home and succeeding with influencer marketing activations?

This Christmas Holiday, the demand for stay-at-home entertainment and virtual company will be skyrocketing. Take this into consideration in your influencer marketing campaigns as well. Focus on spreading joy and warmth as well as content that entertains, or at least takes the mind off the current situation. As many people will be alone over the Holidays, it’s a good idea to test more interactive content formats as well. Maybe a live Q&A with an influencer, or a DYI session?

We need inspiration! Can you share your top three list of activities to do at home this Christmas?

First of all, indulge in Christmas sweets and challenge yourself in the art of baking! If you’re living in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, US, Ireland or Canada (i.e. countries where the new IG search feature has been released), I’d recommend trying out this brand new way to find the most inspiring recipes!

Second, play board games via Zoom. Works perfectly fine as long as you don’t have a cheater in the family…

Last but not least, relax, take it eeeeeeaaaaasy (like MIKA would have said). This year has been a roller coaster ride and I think we all need to charge our batteries for a new, and hopefully not as crazy, year.

Wishing you all the merriest Christmas of all!

Merry Christmas Sanna!
